Front End Loading (FEL)
Front End Loading (FEL) is all the work done on a project before the final investment decision is made. The FEL process takes different forms in different companies but the underlying principle is the same: the process is divided into stages with each stage ending in a formal assessment aimed at making a decision as to whether to proceed to the next stage, redo/recycle to a past stage or cancel the project. These assessments cover both the technical and business dimensions of the project.
In brief, it is possible to develop the Business Plan based on the results of FEL-1, however it would normally be required to complete FEL-2 in order to pursue funding and to make a decision of the 'Final Investment Decision'. We are able to provide full responsibility for the development of deliverables to support the Business Plan within our discipline. We are also capable of Project Management for guiding other parties and their disciplinary input, in order to cover all input requirements to the Business Plan. Business Plan Development
The key to a successful project starts with a successful business plan developed from a concept. If the Plan is not properly developed, then then we will surely face risks that will jeopardize the project, and what we do not want to do, is "throw good money after bad."
Good money spent upfront, will always pay dividends. Don't rush the process - take the time to be methodical and prepare a sound Business Plan. In so doing, it becomes the guiding document for the framework of the project. If the Business Plan - a development of the Concept Plan - does not yield favourable results, then we need to revisit the Concept Plan. Read more about our Business Plan Development Services. |
Project Management
Project management is the application of processes, methods, skills, knowledge and experience to achieve specific project objectives according to the project acceptance criteria within agreed parameters. Project management has final deliverables that are constrained to a finite timescale and budget.
We use the guiding principles of the Project Management Institute and their PMBoK guide, who lay out the 12 Project Management Principles, as well as the Siemens approach, PM@Siemens.com. Read more about our Project Management Services |
Independent Project Reviews (IPRs)
Independent project reviews (IPRs) are a common tool used to control, review and validate a project before making an irrevocable commitment to start the next project phase. Common issues often reviewed during an IPR include necessary scope, cost and schedule validity, design readiness, unresolved issues, overlooked problems, validity of assumptions, and confirmation of economic analysis, among others. Often called “cold eyes reviews” (as they are intended to bring a fresh set of “cold” eyes to review the project). IPRs are an excellent tool if used properly.

Expert Witness Services
A Consulting Expert or Testifying Expert might be required in the case where the "Project" has met with some form of conflict. In this situation, and where legal proceedings are initiated, there are often strong cases where either a consulting expert or testifying expert are highly beneficial for the case.
In cases where there have been Project Management or Engineering, Procurement or Construction irregularities or deficiencies, we are able to support the case in a professional manner. Read more about our Consulting and Testifying Expert Services. |
Expert Testimony is not simply an expertise in a specific domain. To this we must add , and the ability to communicate effectively. persuasively and in a trustworthy manner with composure.
