EPCI Solutions provides Independent Project Reviews covering all major disciplines, with a focus on Electrical, Automation, Instrumentation and Telecommunications systems and equipment.

What is an Independent Project Review and why do I need one?

The IPR is an important project management mechanism to support project participants and sponsors towards performance excellence. The IPR is a second, unbiased, expert assessment of project health; the first being the ongoing project evaluation by project teams and sponsors. If conducted by a team of objective, fair, and diversely experienced project managers, specialists and consultants, the IPR adds value by identifying additional actions which, when implemented, will improve project performance.

Sometimes, an IPR is termed an “audit.” However, it is my opinion that the audit is more of a post mortem and carries with it negative or neutral connotation, whilst IPR - whilst still using past performance - it identifies any deficiencies, provides corrective recommendations, and encourages excellence to the end.

The idea of an IPR is to treat the whole and not the parts, not to provide destructive criticism of one part, person, or entity, but to provide constructive criticism and affirmative action for the project as a whole.

The IPR serves project owners and EP(I)C contractors who are interested in:
  • Understanding the overall status of a project.
  • Verifying QHSE & regulatory compliance.
  • Control project investment costs.
  • Evaluating the ability to achieve the set objectives.
  • Verifying operational readiness to proceed to the next project stage by validating the accuracy of expenditure, schedule and compliance as a basis to progress with the planned activities.
  • Reviewing the adequacy of strategies and procedures.
IPR Phases
IPR Phases
We maintain a standard based on industry best practice. Our team identifies possible gaps and suggests corrective measures to close the gaps. By clarifying the gaps a clear view can be provided on project status, solutions required to improve project execution and how to reduce costs.
Our IPR contributes to improving communication flows by breaking down organizational silos. Moreover, it contributes to building confidence in the project plan and encourages buy in from project team members.

Our team works in close cooperation with the project team members and focuses on specific phases of a project. For this we use our in house developed PCCS (Project Commissioning Completion and Start-up) method to evaluate your project in the different phases:
  • FEED Engineering.
  • Detailed Design Engineering.
  • Construction.
  • Commissioning.
  • Start-Up & Handover.
